Professor Jonathan Ledermann BSc MD FRCP

Jonathan Ledermann is a Professor of Medical Oncology in the UCL Cancer Institute, University College London, and an Honorary Consultant Medical Oncologist at UCL Hospitals. He is Head of the Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre, within UCL Cancer Institute. The trials centre is one of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI)-accredited trials units and is one of the major centres for national and international trials in Gynaecological cancers. He is the lead for medical oncology of Gynaecological Cancer in the North London Gynaecological Cancer Centre, based at the UCH Gynaecological Cancer Centre.

He qualified from the University of London and trained in internal medicine and medical oncology. He was a Research Fellow at the Charing Cross Hospital London and the Princess Margaret Hospital and Ontario Cancer Institute in Toronto before joining UCL in 1990.

He is the chair of the NCRI Gynaecological Cancer Clinical Studies Group and is a representative on the GCIG (Gynaecological Cancer Intergroup) and its Executive Board.

He is a member of the Expert Advisory Group for oncology at the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the Expert Haematology-Oncology Group at the MHRA. He leads several trials in ovarian cancer and has played a central role in the design and conduct of several national and international clinical trials over the last fifteen years. His other areas of research include experimental therapeutics in ovarian cancer and drug resistance. He has lectured and published widely on these areas of research.
